Yarn markets were thrown into chaos today after a major shipment unspooled in the port of Hollow Oak. Traders reported a loose end at 10:15 a.m. and a total mess by 10:20.
Prices for wool fell 9 percent, cotton rose 3 percent and synthetic fibres are ‘tied up in the courts.’ Analyst Gordon Furrbes advised clients to pull a thread and see what happens. ‘It’s a real knotty situation,’ he said, to groans and a single sardine thrown by a colleague. Experts predict recovery by Tuesday, or whenever the cat gets bored.
